Separating a Voronoi Diagram via Local Search

چکیده
Given a set P of n points in R, we show how to insert a set Z of O ( n1−1/d ) additional points, such that P can be broken into two sets P1 and P2, of roughly equal size, such that in the Voronoi diagram V(P ∪ Z), the cells of P1 do not touch the cells of P2; that is, Z separates P1 from P2 in the Voronoi diagram (and also in the dual Delaunay triangulation). In addition, given such a partition (P1, P2) of P , we present an approximation algorithm to compute a minimum size separator realizing this partition. We also present a simple local search algorithm that is a PTAS for approximating the optimal Voronoi partition. 1998 ACM Subject Classification F.2.2 Nonnumerical Algorithms and Problems, I.1.2 Algorithms, I.3.5 Computational Geometry and Object Modeling

A voronoi diagram-visibility graph-potential field compound algorithm for robot path planning
Numerous methods have been developed to solve the motion planning problem, among which the Voronoi diagram, visibility graph, and potential fields are well-known techniques. In this paper, a new path planning algorithm is presented where these three methods are integrated for the first time in a single architecture. After constructing the generalized Voronoi diagram of C-space, we introduce a n...
متن کاملInteractive Analysis Using Voronoi Diagrams: Algorithms to Support Dynamic Update from a Generic Triangle-based Data Structure
This paper describes a series of dynamic update methods that can be applied to a family of Voronoi diagram types, so that changes can be updated incrementally, without the usual recourse to complete reconstruction of their underlying data structure. More efficient incremental update methods are described for the ordinary Voronoi diagram, the farthest-point Voronoi diagram, the order-k Voronoi d...
متن کاملA Novel Spatial-Temporal Voronoi Diagram-Based Heuristic Approach for Large-Scale Vehicle Routing Optimization with Time Constraints
Vehicle routing optimization (VRO) designs the best routes to reduce travel cost, energy consumption, and carbon emission. Due to non-deterministic polynomial-time hard (NP-hard) complexity, many VROs involved in real-world applications require too much computing effort. Shortening computing time for VRO is a great challenge for state-of-the-art spatial optimization algorithms. From a spatial-t...
متن کاملVoronoi Projection-Based Fast Nearest-Neighbor Search Algorithms: Box-Search and Mapping Table-Based Search Techniques
In this paper we consider fast nearest-neighbor search techniques based on the projections of Voronoi regions. The Voronoi diagram of a given set of points provides an implicit geometric interpretation of nearest-neighbor search and serves as an important basis for several proximity search algorithms in computational geometry and in developing structure-based fast vector quantization techniques...
متن کاملThe Voronoi diagram of three lines in R3
We give a complete description of the Voronoi diagram of three lines in R3. In particular, we show that the topology of the Voronoi diagram is invariant for three lines in general position, that is, that are pairwise skew and not all parallel to a common plane. The trisector consists of four unbounded branches of either a non-singular quartic or of a cubic and line that do not intersect in real...
